Activity – Ear Training
I actually have two assignments for you.
1) Go and practice the "bench technique" in 3 different locations.
You don't necessarily need to go out of your way to do this. You can do it wherever you like, whenever it is convenient.
If you like, you can still mark this lesson as complete before you finish this assignment, if you're planning on doing it in the coming days but still want to move forward with the course.
Once you've practiced active listening in three different locations, wait a week or two. Then head back to those locations for another round. You'll be amazed at how much more you can hear!
Do this as often as you'd like. Practice makes perfect, especially when it comes to ear training.
2) Test your hearing with SoundGym.
Just go to their website and start the free training. It will take you through an initial assessment and assign you a level.
Then, moving forward, I recommend you use this free service as much as possible over the next few weeks. Trust me, it will make a huge difference.
If you feel like you're not getting the results you want, then check out Train Your Ears. It's similar to SoundGym in it's goals and methods, but some people find that the way they go about ear training is way more effective for them.
It's kind of like trying out two different personal trainers at a gym. They're both trying to get you to the same place, but sometimes you just seem to "gel" better with one over the other.
