So before we get started, let’s go over what we’ll be learning in each module the course.
[b]#1: What is an EQ?[/b]
This module is the foundation of the course, covering the basics of EQ. We’ll be covering what an EQ is, and all of the different parameters of your DAW’s EQ plugin.
Plus, we’ll also be reviewing the frequency spectrum, and why it’s so important to understanding EQing. This concept can be a little tricky for beginners, so definitely don’t skip this lesson!
Overall, this module is covering the BASICS. If you’re already an intermediate in using EQ, you can probably skip this. That said, a little review of the fundamentals is almost always helpful!
[b]#2: Why Should I Use an EQ?[/b]
In this module, we’re going to go over the 4 main goals of using an EQ. These are the tasks you’ll be trying to accomplish throughout a mix… and knowing which task you’re working on will help you EQ with intention.
We’ll also be covering what problems an EQ is not the right tool to fix, and how you can avoid creating these problems in the first place.
To put it simply, we’re going to be learning about what an EQ CAN do, and what an EQ CAN’T do.
[b]#3: Where Should I Cut and Boost?[/b]
In this module, we start to get into the real meat of the course. We’ll be reviewing the 5 tools you have at your disposal to figure out exactly where to cut and boost in your EQ.
Some of these tools are specific EQ techniques, others are ways to improve your ears. All of them will help you to EQ better than ever before.

[b]#4: Other EQ Fundamentals[/b]
In this module, we’ll be covering a few extra EQ fundamentals that are important to know before moving on.
For example, you’ll be learning about all of the different kinds of EQ plugins you’ll see throughout your mixing journey, and how to use them.
You’ll also be learning my favorite technique for figuring out if I’ve made the right EQ moves or not: the “A/B Method.”
Finally, we’ll be covering a very important question: What makes a good EQ balance actually a good EQ balance? Understanding the philosophy behind EQ will not only increase the quality of your instruments’ tone but also the tone of your entire mix.

This is the most important module of them all… The Chef Method!
In this module, you’ll learn how to EQ an entire mix from start to finish.
This workflow will likely make EQing your mix make sense for the first time ever.
To put it simply, this is the module where you’ll learn how to put everything we’ve covered so far into practice.

Here, we’ll be covering some common questions and issues that both beginners and intermediates often have.
